Congratulations Seniors
Our three senior girls were honored at the Tri-State banquet on February 18th. Rainy Meals, Raeanne Letterle and Laura Banos were part of an amazing group of young ladies who have lived their lives playing in the chalk tray and bouncing around the gym. We also have one senior member of our boys team, Travis Eiler. These kids are incredible. Not only have they represented us in competition all over the country, but they have worked at birthday parties, helped teach classes and have been wonderful role models to our younger gymnasts. At this time only Rainy is certain that she will be attending Syracuse, the others are still waiting to make their decision. We are really proud of the contribution they have made to Jewart's. Good Luck the rest of the season.
Climb North News
Recently at Climb North we had a young lady by the name of Hayley Oliver-Smith compete in the ABS (American Bouldering Series) Nationals held in Boulder, Colorado. At the age of nine this was Hayley's first experience with the stress and hype that goes along with being considered a national climber. Hayley was among 23 girls in her age division to be qualified for the competition where she held an impressive standing at finishing in 8th place. Hayley will continue climbing under her coach Justin and her brother Jeff to further her great success in her climbing here at Climb North.
We invite any of you to join us for climbing classes for beginners or intermediate climbers. Or come celebrate your birthday with us. Call the office and schedule with MaryJayne or Justin at 412-487-2145.
Dipper News
The kids love the new uneven bars. Miss Caryn has moved things around and given the staff a new perspective. We are excited to bring new skills and progressions to the pre-schoolers. Some of you have asked about the Rising Star program. Miss Teri is in charge of this class. The Rising Star program gives some of our Dippers a second day to train in the gym. While enrolled in this program, Dippers continue their regular broad based Dipper activity and also get a second day to work on conditioning and physical preparation. One thing we know about our sport is that more time a child spends in the gym, they increase skill development exponentially. With that being said, we hope many of you will join us for summer.
Jewels are Shining
The Jewels will compete in their first dual meet with Arcadia Gymnastics on Sunday April 26. The more we are learning about the Level 1-4 USAG routines, the greater insight we are gaining for this program. At this time the Rubies and Emeralds are working Level 1-3 and the Sapphires and Diamonds are learning Level 3 and 4. Our new assistants the Jewel program are Hallie Powell and Jen Fish. Everyone was excited at the intersquad we held on February 25th. Keep up the good work girls.
Pittsburgh Northstar News
The Northstar are winding down the invitational part of the season and getting ready to head for the "Championship" phase of the year. OUr boys, girls and rhythmic competitors have been like globe trotters this year. We have competed in Boston, Las Vegas, Columbus, Philadelphia, Erie and Niagra Falls to name a few. And if we can compete as expected we have many miles left to travel.
During the invitational phase of the season, while the gymnasts are performaing, the coaches are busy deciding what changes they will need to make in the routines to get ready for the year end. Sometimes it involves extra conditioning and sometimes it means changing elements or choreography in the routine. Whatever they do, they are trying to get the kids to hit their best routine at the State meet and hopefully have them qualify to Regionals or Nationals if they have the opportunity to do so.
Parents can check on line or at the gym for individual team newsletters about the meet accomplihsments.
Summer schedule
Coming Soon
All kids benefit from gymnastics training. Gymnastics training enables kids to build on their strengths and improve their weaknesses. Whether a child is physically talented but needs to learn self-discipline, or a child is a great learner but needs physical conditioning, gymnastics training develops your child's talents to prepare them for a world of possiblities. Congratulations to our competing gymnasts but also to those kids who have taken the skills they've learned at Jewart's to join the school musical, become a State qualifier in diving or make the cheerleading squad at their school. We know that today more than ever, the specialized athletic training we provide at Jewart's will benefit your child for a lifetime. Stay with us over the summer to continue the foundation that our staff has started this season.
